World-Text Non-Premium Short Codes

Short CodesWorld-Text Non-Premium Short Codes provide a 2-way SMS messaging solution used to receive and send SMS text messages through a memorable short phone number or a "short code".

Short codes are easy to communicate to consumers and more memorable than long phone numbers; in the UK, short codes are a 5-digit number, such as 84101.

World-Text Non-Premium Short Codes can be used to enable an interactive direct response mechanism for any marketing/ad campaign or interactive service.

World Text Non-Premium Short Codes can either be unique or shared:

  • A dedicated short code offers your brand a dedicated number for all campaigns
  • A shared short code is faster to set-up and more cost-effective, but requires consumers to add a "keyword" in front of each SMS to direct the message to your specific service

    • A more cost effective solution for inbound SMS is a 'Virtual Number' if you need a dedicated number without the use of keywords, this is the same length as a normal mobile number. For more information please see here.

Through the use of keywords which you promote in you marketing material, this is a perfect way to grow your marketing database.

e.g. "Text VIP to 84101 to get updates and special promotions, normal message rates may apply"

Through the use of keywords which you should include in all your marketing and information SMS, this gives the recipient the opportunity to decline further messages. This is essential to remain compliant with marketing guidlines and of course not to annoy your customer.
