Setting up your email gateway.

Account authentication

So that the email you send us are processed, we need to be able to authenticate them in one of the following way.

  • the address book
    the email sent from an email address, to a phone number in your address book are processed.
    To set up the registered email and numbers, you should use the address book.
    The holder of any of the email address in your address book is able to send messages to any of the persons in the mobile address book.

  • IP authentication
    Any email sent from a trusted IP address will be processed.
    To set a trusted IP address, you should use the IP address authentication page.
    The IP address should be the address of your mail server.

  • No authentication on a specific number
    It is possible to allow anyone to send messages to a specific number.
    In that case, any message sent to that number are processed using your account. You can add a forwarded number from the Forwarder configuration page

  • Password Authentication
    This method is the most secure. It allows you to send a message from any email address to any number.
    To send a message using this method, you have to put your secureId in the subject field of the message.
    You can see and generate your SecureId from the SecureID Configuration page.

You can use several of these methods. As long as at least one match is found, the email will be processed.

Setting the source address for the email gateway

The Source address is usually the mobile number of the person who sent the message, but can also be a word of less than 11 characters.
It is possible to change the source address of the SMS you send.by going to the Email Gateway account options page.
You can choose any source address from the list.

The TWOWAY source address is a special source address that allows the recipient to reply to the message, and redirects his reply to your email address.

If you would like a source address that isn;t in this list, you should request a source address.

Setting Delivery Receipts

You can set Dispatch and delivery options from the Email Gateway account options page.
If the Dispatch Option is chosen, you will receive an email when the SMS is sent.
If the Delivery Option is chosen, you will receive an email when the SMS is delivered to the recipient.

By default, the email is sent to the person who sent the email. However, you can set an email address that will collect all the deliveries for email to SMS sent from your account.

Message content options

You can chose to include the sender and or the Subject of the message to the SMS from the Email Gateway account options page..
In that case, these fields will be
If you send the message with a password/SecureId, the subject will not be included in the SMS.

Long Messages

A SMS is 160 characters long.
A long SMS is 154* NbSMS characters long.
By default, any character outside the 160 characters are dropped.
It is possible to send longer messages by sending more than one SMS at once.
To allow long SMS, you should change the Maximum number of message option from the Email Gateway account options page..

Sending Email to SMS

You just need to send the email to <phonenumber>@sms.world-text.com.
<phonenumber> needs to be in international format, without the + or 00 in front.
There shouldn't be any space in the phonenumber, just digits from 0 to 9.
(eg : 4412345678901@sms.world-text.com for the following UK number 012345678901).
